Austalian Test captain Michael Clarke has delivered a heartfelt eulogy to his “little brother” Phillip Hughes at the late cricketer’s funeral on Wednesday.
Clarke struggled to hold back tears as he told of his sadness of the loss of this good mate.
“I don’t know about you, but I keep looking for him,’ Clarke said.
“We must dig in and get through to tea and we must play on. So rest in peace my little brother, see you out in the middle.”
A visibly upset Clarke said Hughes would call him a “sook” if he had seen him deliver the eulogy, but the 33-year-old battled on to say that the cricketing community would always remember him.
Phillip’s spirit which is now part of our game forever will act as a custodian of the game we all love. We must listen to it, we must cherish it, we must learn from it, we must dig in,” he said.
