Floyd Mayweather has again frustrated boxing fans around the world by insisting that Manny Pacquiao’s camp is lying and that a fight is not nearly agreed.
Reports emerged on Friday that an agreement had essentially been reached on all aspects of the fight, with signatures on the contract the only thing missing.
Promoter Bob Arum revealed earlier this week that the fight should be finalised in “a couple of days”, but Mayweather has denied all their claims and insisted that the fight has not been made yet.
While many dismissed the TMZ report suggesting that it was a done deal, it was widely believed that the two camps had made significant progress after the two fighters met for the first time at an NBA game last week.
Mayweather and Pacquiao then met in private at the latter’s hotel suite later that night, with Pac-Man’s adviser, Michael Koncz, revealing that both men made it clear that they wanted the fight to happen and a deal was not far off.
However, during his holiday to Jamaica, Mayweather took a photo relaxing on the beach in a hammock with a caption that insisted that Pacquiao’s team were lying and he used #FightNotMadeYet to end the post.
With fans excited by the prospect of the fight potentially finally happening, Mayweather will have done himself no favours by the latest denial while Pacquiao should also be held accountable if in fact their claims are indeed false.
