Piers Morgan has labelled the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) as “pathetic clowns” after Kevin Pietersen was reportedly denied an England recall by new cricket director Andrew Strauss.

The South African batsman gave England selectors a timely reminder of his talent after making a career-best unbeaten stand of 326 for Surrey on the weekend, but he was told he would not be given another opportunity at Test level after a meeting with Strauss on Monday.
Pietersen was sacked by England in February 2014 following the side’s 5-0 Ashes defeat in Australia after being told he was a disruptive presence in the squad.
Strauss and Pietersen have had their personal differences, and the former was forced to apologise after making an offensive remark about his former teammate during a TV broadcast.
The bad blood between the pair stems back to 2012 when Pietersen was found to be sending text messages about Strauss to the South African cricket team.
New ECB chairman Colin Graves left the door open for Pietersen’s return, resulting in the 34-year-old dumping his Indian Premier League commitments to play County cricket for Surrey.
It now appears that door has been closed.
The outspoken Morgan is an avid Pietersen fan and he let loose on Twitter early on Tuesday morning:
Kevin Pietersen has been knifed in the back again, by a petty little man who's put personal animosity before England cricket.

How can ECB chairman Colin Graves tell @KP24 the door is open if he gets county runs, then let Strauss slam it shut again?

What more does a man have to do than get 326n.o. ??
This is an absolute disgrace and I urge every England cricket fan to support @KP24.

I can't remember a more insane situation than this in English sport. How can you tell a guy who's just scored 326* that he won't be picked??
— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) May 12, 2015
I've never seen @KP24 bat better than yesterday. Yet Strauss responds by banning him all over again? He's a vindictive moron & this is war.

ECB say they can't 'trust' KP, but leak story of Strauss banning him again within minutes. They're a bunch of petty, pathetic clowns.

'The door is open again Kevin, if you score county runs.'
KP scores 326*
'The door is shut again, Kevin.'
