Pittsburgh Steelers running backs Le’Veon Bell and LeGarrette Blount were arrested for possession of marijuana, but they will still play in Thursday’s preseason game.
Pittsburgh Steelers running backs Le’Veon Bell and LeGarrette Blount were both arrested for possession of marijuana after being pulled over along with an unidentified female passenger.
Approximately 20 grams were found in the car after they were pulled over, and Bell allegedly may have driven under the influence of the marijuana. All three of the people in the car admitted that the marijuana belonged to them, and police said they were cooperative.
If Bell and Blount face formal charges, they may be suspended by the league for up to four games. This would severely deplete the Steelers’ backfield, but rookie Dri Archer has shown a lot of promise with his explosive speed.
However, Archer was expected to be a screen option and return specialist while backing up Bell and Blount. He will likely be forced into action if the other running backs miss any games.
Bell and Blount may not have to face charges this season since the trial may be delayed though, and they will play in their next preseason game Thursday against the Philadelphia Eagles.
