Midfielders
Ross Barkley (Everton): Martinez’s faith in the teenager is being repaid in kind as Barkley continues to impress and has two goals already – 9/10.
Michael Carrick (Manchester United): A solid, if unremarkable start to life under David Moyes, with the midfielder generally good to be relied upon – 6/10.
Tom Cleverley (Manchester United): The midfielder is getting a little old to be thought of as a promising youngster and lacks any real creativity going forward – 5/10.
Steven Gerrard (Liverpool): Has been used in a more defensive role by the Reds and it seems to be working, as the club sit second in the table with Gerrard pulling the strings – 7/10.
Frank Lampard (Chelsea): The 35-year-old has been caught out on a few too many occasions by younger and sharper players and looks a little bit lost at times – 5/10.
James Milner (Manchester City): Barely used as anything more than a late substitute by City boss Manuel Pellegrini and provides a good work ethic, rather than a cutting edge – 6/10.
Andros Townsend (Tottenham Hotspur): Has been given a chance by Andre Villas-Boas and is repaying that faith with some genuinely exciting play – 8/10.
Jack Wilshere (Arsenal): Slightly in the shadows of Aaron Ramsey this term (would you believe) but has still been part of a core that has contributed to the Gunners’ success – 7/10.
