Perhaps the only signing from 2013 that was a success – other than maybe Vlad Chiriches – was this Denmark international, who dazzled on several occasions over the past 12 months.

Eriksen was a relative bargain when acquired from the Amsterdam ArenA for £11.5m and the 22-year-old playmaker looks set to have the team built around him at the Lane.
