Three Lions’ 2-0 win at Wembley ends reign of Waldemar Fornalik.
Waldemar Fornalik was on Wednesday sacked as coach of Poland after the team’s failure to qualify for the 2014 World Cup, the country’s football federation announced.
Fornalik, 50, “left his post as coach of the Poland team on October 16”, the federation said in a statement, a day after the team lost 2-0 to England in the final qualifier.
Since taking over from Franciszek Smuda after the 2012 European Championships, Fornalik has overseen a poor run of results, culminating in their fifth-placed finish in European World Cup qualifying Group H – ahead of Modolva and San Marino, but behind England, Ukraine and Montenegro.
