Croatian Midfielder extends his contract
After a successful first season with Western Sydney Wanders, Croatian midfielder Mateo Poljak has extended his contract keeping him at Wanders until 2016.
The former U19 international was a big part of the Wanderers side that became Premier League Champions in their first season.
Speaking to Football Australia, Poljak admitted that he had some reservations about moving to a club that was so early on in it’s development, but that Wanderers success quashed those doubts.
“I am very happy to be in this club and its environment, obviously I am enjoying it very much which is the reason why I am staying here.
“I was a bit sceptical when I came to the club as everything was new, but the huge success we had last season made me love this club and the fans and I’m really excited for the seasons ahead.”
Poljak is also excited about the clubs first appearance in the Asian Champions League, he believes his side could build on their domestic success with victory on the continent.
“This season I know we all want to go one step further– we still have an unfinished job to do in the grand final and hopefully we can achieve that and ACL (AFC Champions League) is coming so that will be a huge experience for us.”
