Minutes after Harry Redknapp denied Adel Taarabt was for sale, comes this story from Italian soruce CalcioMercato…
Chelsea are eyeing QPR playmaker Adel Taarabt and could move for the maverick Moroccan in January.
Taarabt has struggled to hold down a place in the Hoops’ first team this season and speculation was rife that new boss Harry Redknapp would offload the 23-year-old in January.
Redknapp sold Taarabt to the West Londoners during his time in charge of Tottenham but the 65-year-old has insisted that the former Lens star is ‘match winner’ who is part of his plans at Loftus Road.
There is no denying the raw talent Taarabt possesses but the 23- year-old has been labelled a luxury player who rarely delivers, with critics believing he is an example of style over substance.
Chelsea have a host of players similar to Taarabt including Juan Mata, Eden Hazard and Oscar, suggesting a move for the French-born midfielder would be unlikely, even if Redknapp did want to sell him.
This rumour can probably be consigned to the ‘never going to happen’ pile.
