Portland Timbers continue to harbour aspirations of a post-season playoff spot, while San Jose Earthquakes are fighting to avoid finishing last in the Western Conference.
The Timbers and The Earthquakes go head-to-head in tonight’s late kick-off in the MLS Western Conference. San Jose have failed to win any of their last eleven games and have only won six times all season. Portland have 42 points from their 31 games and lie a point behind Vancouver – the side occupying the final playoff place.

Due to the unique way the MLS is scheduled, this is a rematch of last Saturday’s encounter. On that occasion Portland emerged as 2-1 winners from San Jose’s Buck Shaw Stadium despite going a goal behind, and they will be confident of completing the double tonight.
Portland will be without Zakuani and Johnson, with Alhassan also proving to be a doubt. San Jose will see Pintos serve the final game of his suspension, and have Djalo, Muller, Gorlitz, Goodson and Lenhart all on the treatment table.
Kick-off in Portland is at 10:30pm EDT / 7:30pm PDT.
