Martinez has been signed by Arsenal, and he will be headed to the Premier League after spending three seasons with Porto.
His release clause has been set at £24.8m, and manager Arsene Wenger has been looking to upgrade his team’s scoring attack.
Arsenal struck gold last transfer window with a prolific scoring option in forward Alexis Sanchez, who led the Gunners with 16 goals.
Although the 28-year-old will be leaving Porto, they have already come up with a plan for his replacement, as they are considering a deal for Rayo Vallecano’s Alberto Bueno.
Bueno passed a physical exam with Porto on Monday, so all signs point to him being signed.
The La Liga star proved to be a solid scorer himself, as he scored 17 goals this season while starting 35 games.
However, Arsenal will gain more ground in their attempt to contend for a Premier League title, which has evaded their grasp since 2004.
