Portugal player ratings from its 4-0 drubbing at the hands of a rampant Germany in Salvador.
Rui Patricio 5.5
Made a nervous start by almost handing Sami Khedira an early goal, but he wasn’t helped at all by the defence in front of him. A day to forget.
Joao Pereira 6
One of only a couple of Portugal players that could leave the pitch with his head held high. Was unfortunate to give away the penalty on Gotze, but otherwise a respectable performance at right-back.
Bruno Alves 4.5
Made a mess of the clearance that led to Muller’s third goal. Very rough afternoon for the Fenerbahce defender.
Pepe 1
Let his country down massively. Outjumped by Hummels for Germany’s second goal and was sent off in the first half for silly head-butt on Thomas Muller.
Fabio Coentrao 5
His attacking game went down the drain after Pepe’s red card. His tournament looks to be in doubt after he was substituted after a groin injury.
Joao Moutinho 5.5
Only Portuguese midfielder with the ability to keep the ball last night. Key player for the Iberian side.
Miguel Veloso 5
Was rarely sighted for the whole match. Didn’t do much wrong, but not necessarily anything right either.
Nani 4
A poor performance from the Manchester United winger. A player who simply doesn’t deliver when it’s needed most.
Hugo Almeida 4
Taken off with an injury midway through the first half, but didn’t contribute much at all to the team in that period.
Cristiano Ronaldo 6
Started off the match looking dangerous, but grew more and more frustrated as the match wore on. Germany cleverly closed down the space around him so that he could barely breathe, let alone play football.
SUBSTITUTES
Eder 5
Provided the occasional threat to the German defence, but didn’t have much in the way of clear-cut chances.
Andre Almeida 4
Replaced the injured Coentrao, but failed to make an impact.
Ricardo Costa 5
Came on at centre-back, but failed to stop the Germans from scoring a fourth.
