The Socceroo has been touted to swap the A-League for the Premier League
Melbourne Victory coach Ange Postecoglou insists Crystal Palace target Mark Milligan is “irreplaceable” to the club.
The Eagles are known to be keen to add the 28-year-old midfielder to their squad following their promotion to the Premier League, and pair him with fellow Australia team-mate Mile Jedinak, but saw a derisory offer of less than $1 million rejected by the A-League side last week.
It’s understood that Victory would demand at least $1.5m before they would even entertain the prospect of allowing the Socceroos midfielder to leave AAMI Park but Postecoglou hinted that he is going nowhere despite the unpredictable nature of the transfer window.
“Anything can happen till the end of the transfer window but as far as we are concerned Milligan is far too important for us to lose,” Postecoglou told The World Game. ”He is so important that he is almost irreplaceable.
”People might assume that Milligan would be disappointed at missing out on a dream transfer but it is not the case.
”Milligan is playing for a club that has 20,000 members and at the end of the season, where he should play regularly, he has a World Cup to look forward to.”
