Air Force will be one of the teams to play in a bowl game on the first day of bowl season in college football, and they will face Western Michigan in the Potato Bowl.
The Falcons hold a 9-3 record, and they have momentum heading into their bowl game after achieving a minor upset victory against Colorado State, who had been 10-1 at the time.
Air Force kicker Will Conant drilled the game-winning field goal as time expired. The Falcons used their rushing attack to their advantage once again as the team totaled 242 rushing yards.
Western Michigan is coming off a loss to Northern Illinois, where their rushing attack was held to 91 yards. Quarterback Zach Terrell was also limited and threw two interceptions.
Broncos running back Jarvion Franklin will be difficult to stop as he has rushed for 1,525 yards and 24 touchdowns, but Northern Illinois was able to hold him to 91 yards on 29 carries.
Although Western Michigan has a premier running back, Air Force has the 33rd-ranked run defense in the nation to counter it. Terrell has been prone to turnovers too as he has 10 interceptions.
Interestingly enough, Western Michigan is just behind Air Force in run defense. The Falcons have beaten Colorado State and Boise State this season, so a win against the Broncos is highly possible.
Prediction: Air Force 31, Western Michigan 24
