CM: Francis Coquelin
Arsenal chasing defensive midfielders has been a gossip column staple for years now, but Wenger is yet to invest in one this summer and that is surely down to the emergence of Coquelin.
The Frenchman made quite an impact upon breaking into the team midway through last season. Liverpool legend Didi Hamann told talkSPORT that he can lead the Gunners to title glory this term.
CM: Santi Cazorla
The magician that makes the Gunners tick is now at home in this deeper role after spending the final few months of last season as the perfect creative foil to Coquelin.
When the Spaniard plays well, Arsenal tend to. They won all but one of the Premier League matches in which Cazorla found the net last season.
AMC: Jack Wilshere
With his sketchy injury record and the competition for places at Arsenal, this is a crucial season for Wilshere. Promisingly, he has been in excellent summer form for both club and country.
Wenger might want to test his effectiveness in an advanced role against more credible opposition while Alexis Sanchez, still recuperating after Copa America duty, remains out of contention.
