Louis Van Gaal’s summer transfer spree has started to gather pace over the past week, with no less than three new faces joining up with his squad.
Although Sergio Ramos may well be staying in Madrid, the Dutch tactician has suggested that he is far from finished in the market and will continue to strengthen his team.
Here is our predicted Man United XI for their pre-season clash with Club America on Saturday:
GK: David De Gea
De Gea has been linked with a move to Real Madrid this summer, but it appears as though a possible exchange involving Sergio Ramos is off the table. Van Gaal should be delighted to have the Spaniard between the posts still.
DF: Luke Shaw
After an injury-plagued season last year, Shaw will hope to start to re-pay the faith shown in him by the club after his big-money move from Southampton.
DF: Phil Jones
There will be increased competition in the central defensive positions by the time the new season starts, so Jones will be desperate to prove that he deserves his place in the starting line-up.
DF: Chris Smalling
The same applies to Smalling as the England defender battles to ensure that he isn’t displaced from the team with Marcos Rojo likely to push him, or Jones, out.
