4) Manchester City
Only three signings so far, and not exactly three that will be stealing the headlines for Manchester City. Then again, with the best squad in the country, what work needs to be done at the Etihad Stadium as they prepare to retain their title in 2014/15? In comes Fernando to provide depth in midfield, Willy Caballero to challenge Joe Hart for his place in goal, and Bacary Sagna on a free transfer from rivals Arsenal to provide another option at both right-back and centre-back.
Backup player Gareth Barry has left the club, with other low-key members of the squad likely to follow. Meanwhile, no major departures are expected despite some stories of Atletico Madrid chasing Alvaro Negredo.
Perhaps one more signing at the back is needed, and of course the club simply must keep hold of the unsettled but brilliant Yaya Toure, but so far a solid window. However, with Chelsea strengthening so considerably, City may find themselves just short of winning the title for a second year in a row.
Transfer window score: 6/10
Predicted finish: 2nd
