5) Manchester United
Arguably the biggest deal for Manchester United fans is the arrival of a new manager in the form of Louis van Gaal. The controversial Netherlands coach was announced as the successor to David Moyes earlier in the summer, and will take over as full time manager after the World Cup, as he hopes to guide the Dutch national team to a third place finish.
Still, the manager has managed to do some work whilst away, making two key signings in Ander Herrera and Luke Shaw to make major improvements in two key areas for United. Herrera in particular should give the side some much-needed composure and creativity in the middle of the park, while youngster Shaw is an outstanding prospect and great long-term replacement for Patrice Evra at left-back.
Signings are still needed after the departures of Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic leave United with major holes to fill in central defence, but the Red Devils seem ready to spend big on some established names to help them improve on their nightmarish performance of 2013/14. So far, one would expect they are set to at least return to the top four.
