6) Tottenham Hotspur
Another club with a new manager for next season, Mauricio Pochettino has joined from Southampton to replace Tim Sherwood at White Hart Lane. After his fine work at the St Mary’s Stadium, the Argentine will surely get Tottenham playing a more stylish and effective brand of football next season after so many poor displays, particularly against the big sides, in 2013/14.
Still, Pochettino has not managed to make any signings as of yet, and will be under increasing pressure to do so as Spurs’ rivals around them continue to do well in the transfer market. So far only Jake Livermore has been sold, with some other backup players also released by the club. It seems pretty clear that much more needs to be done in several areas of this squad for the club to have any hope of improving on last season and making the top four.
Signings are needed in defence and upfront in particular, while many of the flops brought in last summer would ideally be shipped out ASAP. At least Hugo Lloris has signed a new deal.
Transfer window score: 3/10
Predicted finish: 6th
