Under Alan Pardew’s guidance the Magpies have been very erratic, pushing for European football one year and then fighting for their survival the next.

Newcastle performed well before the New Year, but the loss of Yohan Cabaye in January coincided with a drop in form – although they still finished 10th regardless.

Pardew has been busy in the transfer market as well, bringing in seven new players so far including Remy Cabella, Daryl Janmaat and Siem de Jong.
