8. Hugo Lloris (Tottenham Hotspur)
Mauricio Pochettino made the mistake of naming Younes Kaboul as club captain upon his appointment at Spurs, but it was actually Lloris who ended up wearing the armband for much of the season.
Kaboul was dropped prior to Christmas and Tottenham’s world-class goalkeeper stepped up. He is also captain of the France national team and so must be a respected presence in the changing room.
7. Phil Jagielka (Everton)
The England defender took on the Toffees captaincy following the retirement of Phil Neville in 2013, but he had been a leader at Goodison Park for some time before that.
Jagielka has years of Premier League football under his belt and his experience at international level is only going to help him as he tries to pick Everton up after a disappointing 2014-15 campaign.
