Leicester City are the surprising frontrunners to sign Liverpool outcast Mario Balotelli.
The Italian striker has been told that he has no future at Anfield after a disastrous 12 months following his £16m arrival from AC Milan.
He scored only one Premier League goal throughout last season and frustrated Brendan Rodgers with his antics and attitude on the training ground.
Balotelli has not featured in either of Liverpool’s two wins at the beginning of the Premier League season and the Reds are busy looking for suitors.
A return to Serie A has been mooted, but SkyBet make Claudio Ranieri’s Leicester the 3/1 favourites to sign the 25-year-old before the transfer deadline.
Sampdoria and Lazio are available at 3/1 and 5/1 respectively, with London duo Watford and West Ham United the next most likely English clubs at 16/1.
The Foxes are one of the early Premier League pacesetters, having picked up maximum points from their opening two games alongside Liverpool and the Manchester clubs.
Ranieri’s current strike force of Jamie Vardy and Shinji Okazaki are notoriously hard-working. Balotelli has a very different approach and therefore would not fit in at Leicester.
