Those that should have been named on the shortlist.
Both the PFA Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year nominations have been announced and as always there is some controversy surrounding the shortlists.
Firstly the fact that players who started the season aged 23-years-old or under are eligible for the youngster category has been dubbed farcical once more – meaning Chelsea’s Eden Hazard and Daniel Sturridge of Liverpool are in both categories.
Joining them on the PFA Player of the Year shortlist is Sturridges’ Reds teammates Steven Gerrard and Luis Suarez, Yaya Toure of Manchester City and Southampton captain Adam Lallana.
As for the Young Player of the Year category, Lallana’s Saints counterpart Luke Shaw is joined by another Merseyside star in Raheem Sterling, Everton’s Ross Barkley and Aaron Ramsey of Arsenal.
Whilst there is little doubting all of these nominees have had fine seasons with their respective clubs, there are still a number of players who have been perhaps unfairly overlooked.
Here are those who are unlucky to have missed out.
