Chelsea and Manchester United lost, Liverpool strengthened their position at the top of the table, and Arsenal battered Hull City away.
Here’s our Premier League team of the week:
GK) Vito Mannone – Sunderland
More than made up for his horrific error against Manchester City with a domineering performance against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Mannone made 14 saves against Jose Mourinho’s side, which is the equal highest of any keeper this term.
DR) Seamus Coleman – Everton
The Irishman has been the best right-back in the top flight this season, so it’s no surprise the side he helped beat today want him so badly. Coleman worked tirlessly up the right flank, and his assist for Kevin Mirallas’s goal was a thing of beauty.
DC) Scott Dann – Crystal Palace
Dann had to battle aerially with Andy Carroll, and definitely got the better of the battle with the giant striker. The win sends Palace into 11th place, and there place in the top flight next term is now guaranteed.
DC) John Stones – Everton
Dealt with former Toffees prodigy Wayne Rooney very well. Young Stones is improving every week, and there are increasing shouts for him to be called up to England’s World Cup squad.
DL) Marcus Alonso – Sunderland
The Spaniard was defensively outstanding against Chelsea, playing a big part in ruining Jose Mourinho’s unbeaten Premier League record at Stamford Bridge.
