DC) Dejan Lovren – Southampton
The Saints kept another clean sheet that was a constant theme of the first few months of the season, but has been harder to come by since. Lovren was a key reason for this, winning everything in the air, and making one outstanding last ditch tackle late on against West Brom.
DC) Martin Demichelis – Manchester City
The veteran Argentine centre-half was much criticised at the start of the campaign, because he lacks pace and the roughness of many Premier League defenders. Against Newcastle though, his calmness and poise in possession helped his side keep the ball and snuff out the threat of the likes of Yohan Cabaye and Loic Remy.
