The NFL has announced that Philadelphia Eagles Guard Evan Mathis will replace injured New Orleans Saints G Jahri Evans in the 2015 Pro Bowl.
Despite missing seven and a half games this season, Mathis will make his second consecutive trip to the annual NFL all-star game, which will be played at University of Phoenix Stadium in Arizona on January 25, the week prior to the Super Bowl.
But out of all the people who were surprised that Mathis was named a Pro Bowler, few were as surprised as Mathis himself.
“It’s silly that I can make it playing 8.5 games,” Mathis told NJ Advance Media. “But I’m excited to share the experience with my teammates that will also be there.”
Mathis will be joined by fellow teammates RB LeSean McCoy, OT Jason Peters, C Jason Kelce, LB Connor Barwin and KR Darren Sproles bringing the total number of Eagles at the NFL’s annual end of season all-star game to six.
