Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has dealt a blow to Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur’s transfer plans by insisting that he has no reason to leave Borussia Dortmund.
The Gabonese striker is believed to be a long-term Gunners target, and reports earlier this week claimed that Spurs were ready to battle their North London rivals for his signature.
But Aubameyang has stressed how happy he is at Dortmund and does not feel that he needs to leave for the Premier League to challenge for major trophies.
“You can take it for granted that I am not going to waste any time thinking about giving up how happy I am at Borussia, in the city of Dortmund and with this team,” he told German newspaper Welt am Sonntag.
“Dortmund have won the title twice in the last five years, we reached a Champions League final and had Real Madrid on the brink of elimination in the group stage when they went on to win it. If I didn’t believe that I could win titles with Dortmund, then I wouldn’t be here.”
The 26-year-old scored 23 goals for Dortmund in all competitions last season.
