Roma’s young centre-back could be next big money player to move to Paris.
Sky Italy report that Roma’s young Brazilian centre-back Marquinhos could be the next huge money arrival at PSG.
The talented defender would be a ready made replacement for Thiago Silva, if Brazil’s captain does eventually join Spanish champions Barcelona. Sky Sports have stated however, that despite big interest from the Catalan club, no deal has yet been struck.
Marquinhos joined Roma last summer after making just six league appearances for Corinthians. He had an outstanding first season in Italy, cementing a spot in the starting XI, and demoting experienced Argentinian Nicolas Burdisso to the bench. He is yet to make a senior Brazilian appearance, with the likes of Thiago Silva, David Luiz and Dante standing in his way. However, a high-profile move to PSG will naturally mean El Selecao manager Luis Felipe Scolari will keep a close eye on the young defender before next summer’s World Cup.
Because of his age and his potential, combined with PSG’s never-ending pockets, Roma’s 19-year-old is likely to command an astronomical transfer fee, that could reach €30m.
PSG have been slow to move in the transfer window so far, and have watched newly promoted Monaco spend huge money on Falcao, James Rodrigues and Joao Moutinho. The Paris club are close to a deal with Edinson Cavani however, and although fans would be upset to see Thiago Silva leave, the signing of Marquinhos would appease them.
