The Argentine wide-man has long been linked with a move to the Premier League but seems set to become the latest big-money purchase by French giants PSG.
This could mean another Premier League target, Ezequiel Lavezzi, is available this January after failing to establish himself at the Parc des Princes.
Lavezzi has also been linked with Liverpool, as well as the likes of Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur, and Gaitan would make a logical upgrade on the former Napoli star.
