Angel Di Maria could be on his way to the French capital.
Paris Saint-Germain are preparing to upstage Manchester United by putting in a £17m bid for their Real Madrid target Angel Di Maria, according to the Daily Express.
Madrid are planning a busy summer of transfers as president Florentino Perez aims to bring in at least one marquee signing – with the club being linked with Premier League stars Gareth Bale and Luis Suarez.
As a result a number of players are also expected to be sold from the Santiago Bernabeu in order to finance these new signatures.
Di Maria is one of those named as exiting the Spanish giants after an average season for the club, which saw the Argentinian score eight goals in all competitions.
The Red Devils are keen admirers of the 25-year-old and were lining up an offer themselves but will now face a battle with super-rich PSG.
The French champions have not been scared to open their chequebook in the last two seasons since being taken over by a wealthy Qatari group.
Big money signings such as Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Thiago Silva and Lucas all helped the Parisian club pick up their first Ligue 1 trophy in 17 years.
Therefore tempting Di Maria shouldn’t prove to be too much of a problem for PSG and Madrid are believed to be willing to accept nearly half of the £29m they paid for the Argentina international just two years ago.
As for United, new manager David Moyes will have to act quickly if he wants his man, as fellow wealthy Ligue 1 side AS Monaco have also reportedly submitted a bid for the midfielder.
