The super rich French club plan a shock move for the Real Madrid star.
In what would be the transfer deal of the summer French champions Paris Saint-Germain are reported by Le 10 Sport to be preparing an audacious bid for Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Portuguese forward has been linked with several moves away from the Santiago Bernabeu but his high transfer fee and wages would prove to be a major hurdle for most clubs.
However, with the spending power at PSG since their takeover by a Qatari consortium headed by Nasser al-Khelaifi, big money deals are no longer a problem.
Last season the Parisian club spent nearly £130million on new players, which included transfers of £37million for AC Milan defender Thiago Silva and £35,2million for his Brazilian teammate Lucas.
Yet securing the services of Ronaldo would be a different story after Madrid spent a world record £80million on the former Manchester United player in 2009.
Still only 28-years-old the Portugal captain would continue to command an enormous fee four years on from when Los Blancos smashed the record.
In fact it’s thought that PSG would be prepared to pay more than Madrid and fork out £84.5million for Ronaldo, as well as coughing up a a jaw-dropping £15.2million-a-year salary to the winger.
This story has emerged after chief executive al-Khelaifi was seen meeting with the Madrid player’s agent Jorge Mendes for the second year running.
The last time the pair met was in August 2012 and too near the closure of the transfer window for any realistic deal to be put together.
Yet 12 months on PSG are Ligue 1 champions and have given a good showing in the Champions League – therefore making themselves a more attractive prospect for the ambitious Ronaldo.
