Ligue 1 giants lining-up summer bid for Rooney.
PSG are set to test Manchester United’s resolve to keep Wayne Rooney at Old Trafford with a mega-bucks summer offer for the forward, reports The Times.
The Ligue 1 leaders reportedly want another star striker to partner Zlatan Ibrahimovic at the Parc des Princes and have identified the England international as a possible addition.
Rooney will enter the final two years of his contract at United in the summer and the Red Devils could be tempted to cash-in on the £40m-rated player, who turns 28 in the October.
The former Everton playmaker has been surpassed by Robin van Persie as the focal point of United’s attack this season but has still scored 15 goals in 29 appearances in all competitions.
Indeed, the England star’s ten Premier League goals have earned United 13 Premier League points this season; only Van Persie (22) and Tottenham’s Gareth Bale (15) have earned their clubs more, suggesting that Rooney remains pivotal to the Red Devils.
Improving PSG are favourites to claim the Ligue 1 title and also look likely to progress to the Champions League quarter-finals, after a fine last-16 first-leg win at Malaga.
The Parisiens recently signed Rooney’s former England teammate David Beckham and are one of the richest clubs in world football, an overall package that could tempt Rooney, particularly if the French club can lure former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho to Paris in the summer.
