Silva wants the striker at the Stade De France next season.
With Wayne Rooney having submitted a transfer request at Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain centre-back Thiago Silva has urged the Ligue 1 champions to seal a deal for the forward.
Rooney has been strongly linked with PSG, as well as United’s Premier League rivals Arsenal, but it seems Silva wants his club to make the first move.
“I love this player. Whenever I have played against him he has scored,” the defender was quoted on ESPN FC.
“I would really like Rooney to sign for PSG. This would be a reinforcement of quality for us.”
It seems that the 28-year-old wants his super-rich French employers to dip their hands into their deep pockets once more and pay the £30m likely to tempt the Red Devils into selling.
Silva himself was the subject of one of those moves, having signed for PSG last summer following a £37m bid being accepted by the Brazilian’s previous club AC Milan.
The defender played 34 matches for the Parisian team during his first season in France, helping the side to their first Ligue 1 title in 17 years.
Next campaign it’s likely that the reigning champions will face stiff competition from fellow wealthy club AS Monaco – who have already announced their return to the French top flight by spending £110m on Radamel Falcao, Joao Moutinho and James Rodriguez.
Therefore Silva believes that the acquisition of Rooney would further strengthen PSG’s squad as they face a difficult defence of their title and to further their ambitions in the Champions League.
