World’s best centre-back wants one of the world’s best forwards to join him…
PSG and Brazil skipper Thiago Silva is desperate for his side to sign Manchester United and England star Wayne Rooney, reports the Daily Mail.
The centre-half, who turned 29 yesterday, was desperate for the Ligue 1 champions to secure Rooney’s signature in the summer, and still reckons they have a chance of doing so in the coming transfer windows.
“I was hopeful we would sign Wayne Rooney this summer and I am hopeful that we still can,” said the Brazilian centre-half star.
Rooney has started to find his best form at Old Trafford, after a difficult summer of endless transfer rumours and stories of unrest. Chelsea made bids to sign the forward, after Rooney was apparently angry at comments made about him by new United boss David Moyes.
Putting this behind him however, the striker has scored three goals in his last two games, and put in a brilliant performance against Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League last week.
Silva rates Rooney as one of the world’s best, and thinks his huge spending side can take advantage of his unrest.
“It is clear his future at Manchester United is not certain. The player himself has made it clear that he would like a new challenge,” said Silva.
“If he still feels that way in January or even next summer then, once again I would urge him to come and join PSG. We are the most exciting project in European football and it is clear from the ambition of our owners that we are going to be successful.”
