However, club hierarchy believe he can be future captain.
Newly appointed Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is reportedly willing to sell David Luiz amid interest from PSG, according to the Mirror.
The 26-year-old has become a firm fans favourite since his switch to Stamford Bridge, although critics continue to point at his unreliability as a central defender.
However, the French league champions believe that along with Thiago Silva, the Brazilian international can forge a solid partnership with his compatriot at the heart of their defence next season, and would be willing to meet his €25m asking price.
It is believed that new boss Jose Mourinho is unconvinced by Luiz’s ability to perform at the back, while he also reportedly has his reservations about deploying him as a deep lying midfielder where he has been effective over the past year.
As a result, the Portuguese tactician considers him to be expendable, and could sacrifice him in order to raise his transfer funds to bring in suitable replacements, with Porto’s Eliaquim Mangala suggested as a possible option.
However, such a decision is unlikely to go down well with the Chelsea hierarchy, who envisage Luiz being a future captain of the club and would much prefer to keep him and continue to develop his abilities.
PSG have yet to make an official bid for the Brazilian, and considering he is currently on international duty with the Selecao in the Confederations Cup, it remains to be seen whether they step up their interest ahead of the new season.
