Former Villarreal ‘B’ forward becomes the I-League club’s fifth signing of the summer.
Pune FC have confirmed the signing of Spanish-born striker Raul Fabiani from Villarreal ‘B as a replacement for James Moga.
The 29-year-old becomes the Red Lizards’ fifth signing of the summer window and the second player in their foreign quota alongside playmaker Douhou Pierre after an excellent year with Valencia-based club Huracán CF in the Segunda Division-B.
Raul also becomes the first European player to make the move to the Balewadi Sports Complex and will fill the void left by Moga following his move to East Bengal in June.
“I’m happy to be in India and be a part of Pune FC which is one of the top clubs,” the Equatorial Guinea international told Goal.com after arriving in the City on Sunday.
“I’m willing to put in a lot of effort and want to help Pune FC win the league. I will try to score as many goals as possible.”
Standing at six foot and six inches in height, Raul is the tallest player to be signed by Pune since their promotion to the I-League in 2009/10 and Head of Operations, Chirag Tanna, is confident he will be a success in India.
“We are very happy to have signed Raul,” Tanna said. “He has an excellent record in Spain (Segunda and Segunda B) and we believe he has the necessary attributes to succeed in the I-League.”
