Harry Redknapp targeting Emmanuel Adebayor for Loftus Road switch.
QPR boss Harry Redknapp is eyeing a loan move for Tottenham’s Emmanuel Adebayor – but admits the striker would be unlikely to drop down to the Championship.
The Hoops have already signed Benoit Assou-Ekotto and Tom Carroll on season-long loan deals from Spurs.
Adebayor is out of favour at White Hart Lane, and Spurs head-coach Andre Villas-Boas has confirmed the 29-year-old will train with the development squad until further notice.
Under Redknapp, Adebayor scored 17 league goals for Spurs during a loan spell from Manchester City but struggled last season after the move was made permanent, netting just five times in the league despite often being first choice under Redknapp’s successor Villas-Boas.
And Redknapp has admitted Adebayor would be a ‘great’ signing for the R’s but concedes the chances of pulling off a deal are slim.
“He’d be a great loan, that’s for sure,” Redknapp told Sky Sports.
“I don’t know what will happen with him. He’s a good player but it’s up to Tottenham, they have lots of good players.
“He can’t go on loan in the Premier League, he can only go into the Championship but whether he’d want to do that – it would be difficult I think.”
