Queens Park Rangers have reportedly been offered the chance to sign former Chelsea striker Samuel Eto’o on a free transfer, according to the Daily Mail.
The veteran Cameroon star, who spent just one season at Stamford Bridge last year, is currently considering his options for the new campaign as he looks for a new club.
QPR have already splashed out big money on paying the wages of new centre-back signing Rio Ferdinand, and it is thought that Harry Redknapp is unsure over Eto’o’s wage demands and may look elsewhere for cheaper options.
The 34-year-old, who has also played for big clubs such as Barcelona and Inter Milan in a glittering career, managed 12 goals for Chelsea last term, including a memorable hat-trick against Manchester United at Stamford Bridge.
The prolific forward still looks capable of performing at the top level and could be a great marquee signing for QPR, though a deal currently looks unlikely as the club don’t feel they can afford him.
The newly-promoted side have been criticised in the past for their excessive spending on players who arguably look past their peak.
