The 30-year-old revealed via twitter that he’d turned down the Eagles’.
QPR midfielder Joey Barton has revealed he rejected an offer to sign for Premier League new-boys Crystal Palace.
It’s understood Eagles boss Ian Holloway made an approach for the 30-year-old as he seeks to strengthen his midfield options after signing bring attackers Jason Puncheon, Marouane Chamakh and Dwight Gayle to Selhurst Park this summer in a bid to stave off relegation.
Barton spent the previous season on-loan in France with Ligue 1 side Marseille and was expected to lead the exodus from Harry Redknapp’s squad in the transfer window, but has slowly begun to repair his soured relationship Rangers fans with a series of committed displays during their opening fixtures in the Championship.
And the former Manchester City and Newcastle man confirmed on twitter that he’d spurned Palace’s advances.
“They tried but its not the right move for me and my family right now,” he posted according to Sky Sports.
“Hope they stay up as I like Holloway.”
After seeing a transfer for Magpies outcast Dan Gosling breakdown earlier in the summer Holloway is working hard to bring in fresh blood before the deadline on Monday evening, and Barton represents another failure on the recruitment front.
