Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson promised the Philadelphia Eagles that he would win a Super Bowl with them if they drafted him before the 2012 draft started.
Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson is coming off a Super Bowl victory in just his second season as an NFL quarterback, and he is looking to lead his team to a repeat championship.
This may have validated his confidence that was through the roof prior to getting drafted. The quarterback reportedly promised the Philadelphia Eagles that he would lead them to a Super Bowl if they took him. He said this prior to the 2012 NFL draft, when the Seahawks took him in the third round.
The Eagles returned to the playoffs last season with Nick Foles as their starting quarterback, who took over for Michael Vick midseason.
The New Orleans Saints eliminated the Eagles in the first round of the playoffs, and their inability to win the Super Bowl was largely because of their defense.
The Seahawks won their Super Bowl with the help of their defense, which was No. 1 in the league last season. Although Wilson would have succeeded with the Eagles, it’s hard to say whether he would have been able to lead them all the way.
