Manchester City could make a dramatic deadline day swoop for Radamel Falcao – and have reportedly offered AS Monaco €40million for the services of their centre-forward.
That comes despite Monaco already having a loan agreement in place with Real Madrid. The Daily Mirror believes that if City to clinch a deal for Falcao, they will allow Madrid to sign Alvaro Negredo, who would then be their fifth choice striker.
The source explains: Real Madrid were set to take the Colombian on a €10 million season-long deal to the Bernabau, with a view to a permanent €30million transfer next season.
The La Liga side had fended off competition from Arsenal and Juventus for the South American striker, and Falcao even tweeted saying it was “a dream come true” to be joining the Champions League winners, only to delete it immediately.
City are rumoured to have spoke to Falcao’s agent Jorge Mendes and to representatives at Monaco about an up-front €40million move. The Ligue 1 club are now trying to break the loan agreement between themselves and Real Madrid – in favour of the Manchester club’s permanent transfer.
