Monaco striker hints at Blues attraction.
Radamel Falcao has fuelled suggestions he wants to join Chelsea by admitting he hopes he impressed Jose Mourinho in Colombia’s 2-0 win over Belgium.
The Monaco striker scored in front of a watching Blues boss as the visitors beat Marc Willmots talented side at the King Baudouin Stadium in Brussels on Thursday.
“I don’t know if he [Mourinho] was impressed by what he saw – I hope I made a good impression on him,” said Falcao after the match.
The comments will only heighten speculation that Mourinho could launch a dramatic January bid for the 27-year-old, who joined Monaco from Atletico Madrid for €60m this summer.
Some reports suggest the Portuguese would be willing to send Fernando Torres in the opposite direction in a bid to sign Falcao, who has scored eight goals in 11 Ligue 1 appearances for Claudio Ranieri’s side and netted 70 goals in just two years with Atletico.
Falcao added that he was a fan of the Premier League but insisted he was happy at the Principality club for now.
“The Premier League is one of the most important leagues in the world but I’m playing well and enjoying Monaco at the moment.”
