Arsenal may have moved a step closer to signing AS Monaco’s Radamel Falcao as they are among four clubs that have held talks with the striker’s agent Jorge Mendes, reports RMC.
Juventus, Manchester City and Real Madrid also met with Mendes as the Colombia international tries to engineer a move away from the Stade Louis II.
Falcao has only been with Monaco for 12 months after becoming their club record signing upon completing a £50m switch from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2013.
However, the 28-year-old has struggled to settle in the Principality and is looking for a move away, with several top sides having been put on alert as a result.
Falcao’s dream is to play for Madrid and Mendes has contacted Los Blancos president Florentino Perez to let him know of his client’s availability and wishes.
Juve meanwhile have made an offer to loan the forward with a view to a permanent deal, which is something that both the Ligue 1 club and player are keen to avoid.
City are also eyeing up Falcao as a potential replacement for Alvaro Negredo, although with Sergio Aguero, Edin Dzeko and Stevan Jovetic already at the Etihad Stadium it is hardly a priority.
In fact it is the Gunners who are probably most in need of support in attack, with the news that Olivier Giroud is likely to be out of action until 2015 with an ankle injury.
However, whether or not Arsene Wenger will make a move for the expensive Falcao or not is unknown.
