New Manchester City signing Raheem Sterling was on just £30,000 a week at Liverpool, but he turned down a £100,000-a-week deal to stay at Anfield.
The 20-year-old was accused of insanity when he rejected Liverpool’s six-figure offer, but his transfer to City appears to have justified the decision.
Sterling, who moved to the Etihad Stadium for transfer fee of £49m on Tuesday, has signed a five-year contract with the Sky Blues, worth £180,000 per week.
The England wonderkid will wear City’s number 7 shirt this season.
He wore 31 with Liverpool last term.
