England manager Roy Hodgson will send Liverpool forward Raheem Sterling back home after their European qualifier with Lithuania on Friday, meaning he will miss next week’s friendly with Italy, The Sun reports.

Sterling’s Reds teammates Adam Lallana and Daniel Sturridge have already been granted leave and now the 19-year-old will follow quickly behind as he is carrying a toe injury.
“I fear we’re going to lose one or two more,” Hodgson said.
“There are already one or two that I know won’t be able to join us against Italy because of the current problems that they’re dealing with.
“I fear on this occasion it won’t be as strong a team as I would like to have picked.”
