Man City’s impending capture of Liverpool star Raheem Sterling is set to cost the club £100m, according to reports.
City failed with two earlier bids for the 20-year-old Liverpool ace, however a £49m transfer fee has been agreed between the two sides with Sterling now expected to complete a medical and agree to personal terms.
According to Daily Express however, the England international will cost the cashed-up Premier League giants closer to the region of £100m.
£44m of the transfer fee will be paid up front by City, with a further £5m based on Sterling’s success at the Etihad, making the former QPR prodigy the most expensive English player in history.
Sterling’s £200k-a-week salary over his five-year deal will set City back a further £50m and is a massive gamble on a player of such a tender age.
City seem to be willing to take such a risk considering its need for home-grown talent.
