Manchester City most are understood to have had a £40m bid recently turned down by the Reds who value the attacker at a staggering £50m.
According to The Guardian, Sterling has told Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers he no longer wants to play for him and reinforced his desire to leave the Merseyside club.
It is believed Sterling will refuse to join his Liverpool teammates on a pre-season tour of Australia and the Far East, and it’s extremely clear that there has been a breakdown between player and club.
Daily Express reports cashed-up Premier League giants Manchester City will look to take advantage of the situation and make a third bid for the talented 20-year-old, however the Etihad-based club are unwilling to match Liverpool’s £50m valuation.
City’s bid would almost certainly create a tense standoff between Liverpool bosses and Sterling and may force the Reds to lower its asking price for the youngster.
