Raheem Sterling’s agent, Aidy Ward, has issued an official statement that has only served to make the winger’s apparent desire to leave Liverpool all the more foggier.

Speaking with the Liverpool Echo, Ward indicated that claims Sterling had asked Liverpool for a transfer this summer had been ‘blown out of proportion’.
However, despite saying that the press may be guilty of jumping the gun in terms of ramping up the speculation surrounding his client’s future, he also failed to dismiss suggestions that the England international could be on his way out of the club over the coming months.
“The story has been somewhat blown out of proportion. Raheem and his representatives have a meeting scheduled with Liverpool later this week, and we will take proceedings from there,” Ward said.
Sterling is set to meet with members of the Liverpool hierarchy towards the end of the week for fresh talks, but as it stands a new contract worth an estimated £100,000-per-week remains unsigned.
The Reds are about to embark on a massive rebuilding project this summer, and manager Brendan Rodgers won’t want to lose such a key player for any amount of money.
