Both sides will be seeking a win to keep up with leaders Chennai Super Kings.
It’s a top of the table clash today in the 2013 IPL as second placed Royal Challengers Bangalore travel to Rajasthan Royals, who sit in third.
RCB were brought back down to Earth after their huge 130-run win over Pune Warriors India, when they were comprehensively beaten by Mumbai Indians on Saturday.
Rajasthan however put their poor streak of two losses in a row behind them when they handed an eight-wicket defeat to Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Opener Shane Watson continued in his great vein of form for the Royals as the Australian seems to be finding his feet in this season’s tournament – scoring 98 not-out to add to his century in his previous match.
The danger-man with the ball for Rahul Dravid’s side is James Faulkner, as the Aussie seamer is staking his clam ahead of the Ashes by leading the Purple Cap award with 16 wickets.
Faulkner’s five-wicket haul against Sunrisers is also the best figures of the year with 5-20.
For Bangalore it is their batting line-up that instills the most fear into their opponents, with Chris Gayle and captain Virat Kohli smashing nearly 800 runs between them.
South African one-day skipper AB de Villiers is also starting to find some form with the bat, after returning to the Royal Challengers side following injury.
With Chennai Super Kings beginning to run away with the IPL lead after five wins in a row, both sides need maximum points today to stay on CSK’s tail.
