ST: Loic Remy – 5/10
The former Newcastle loanee, who was harshly booed on his return to St James’ Park, could not provide the focal point that a Mourinho attack needs. Squandered one good headed chance in the second half.
Substitutes
Willian – 7/10
The first of Chelsea’s three South American substitutes was a bundle of energy and scored another one of those bizarre free-kicks which go untouched through the area to secure the Blues a point.
Radamel Falcao – 6/10
The Colombian put himself about as Chelsea went more direct in the latter stages, but his only chance came when he was flagged offside from an Ivanovic cross. He missed from eight yards, nonetheless.
Ramires – 8/10
The midfielder changed the game after his 72nd-minute introduction. Got Chelsea back into it with a thunderous 25-yard strike and nearly snatched victory with a diving header which Tim Krul saved. Also made the run across Krul which distracted the Newcastle keeper for Willian’s equaliser.
